It's on the regular people ask me about Pete and Penelope and I whip out my phone to show them photos. Thankfully, my pal Tobie over at Roe Creative whipped...
Pete & Penelope | About the Creators
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adam Bush and I am a fan of telling great stories. Pixar. The Jim Henson Company. Disney. I love ‘em all.
For the past decade I’ve spent my professional career creating characters and writing stories for kids and their families. Most of that work happened @churchonthemove and I will forever be indebted for that opportunity. The majority of the characters I’ve created or had a part in creating have been puppet characters.
Almost a year ago to the day – out of the same passion for storytelling – I began creating a television show – with my trusted friend and uber creative writing partner @Stephen_Posey. That show is this show.
Pete and Penelope is an educational puppet, television show for pre-schoolers that encourages them to use their imagination and helps them develop great character.
We created Pete and Penelope because we wanted characters that kids could easily identify with. Pete is all boy, always thinking and building and often oblivious to others’ feelings. Penelope is fun, fun, fun. She’s adorably cute and has an imagination that takes her places the rest of us
can only stand back and dream of.
Our show has obvious tension. Pete’s the older brother, so it’s easy for him to get annoyed by his little sister Penelope. Penelope adores her older brothers and just wants to be involved in everything he does.
Now, for the environment.
When I was a child, Pee Wee’s Playhouse was my all time favorite show. The idea that a place would come alive once you stepped foot inside was outrageously amazing to me, so, we’ve incorporated that idea into this show.
Every time Pete and Penelope step inside their treehouse, it comes to life with characters all around who not only push the stories forward, but help them learn valuable social skills all the while.
Pete and Penelope is still in the pre-production phase as we finish creating characters, write scripts and develop the world they live in. Soon, we’ll provide an inside look at the world we’re creating.
We hope you enjoy the ride as much as we do.
